Forgive me, blog world, for I have been MIA, it’s been almost three weeks since my last post. A combination of festive shenanigans, school holidays and my dad staying with us for four weeks has made blogging opportunities decidedly slender (and then sheer procrastination may have taken over). Prime blogging opportunities came and went – I’ve bought myself a Bellini Intelli and had several disastrous attempts at using it, I turned another year older, I hosted 22 adults and six kids for Christmas, I took the kids (5 and 2) to a karaoke room one desperate, rainy day and Miss M threw all her clothes off and rolled around on the floor… but for some reason, the thought of writing about it on top of doing it was ALL. TOO. HARD. Anyway, I figured I’d better just throw a blog out there to get the ball rolling again and before I forget how altogether.
I’ve noticed a few posts on other blogs – such as these ones on Maxabella Loves and The Annoyed Thyroid – discussing choosing one word that summarises your hopes for the year, and I struggled a bit (never much good at that sort of thing) but eventually came up with ‘move’. It’s supposed to be part inspiration for me to get moving in a physical sense, as my exercise output was decidedly pitiful last year and my body has let me know about it. More literally, it also relates to our plans to move house later this year – possibly to a whole new area – which is equal parts daunting and exciting. (Hopefully, if it’s my word of the year, I’ll keep thinking of it in a positive way!) ‘Move’ also suggests setting things in motion, which I hope to do both with my blog (see? It’s working already…) as well as my work as a freelance writer. By deliberating avoiding any regular, ongoing roles this year, I’m hoping to cast my net far and wide, making new contacts, covering new ground and discovering a whole array of new topics and ideas.
And hopefully, along the way, moving people and being moved by others. (See what I did there?)
Anyone else planning a move this year? Of any description?
